KUNANG-KUNANG,KUMBANG "BERLAMPU"

unang-kunang adalah kumbang”berlampu”.Cahaya jelas terlihat dimalam hari.Penasaran dengan “lampu” itu? Ini faktanya!

 


1.     Cahaya kunang-kunang disebut luminescence.Luminescence dihasilkan oleh zat luciferin yang bereaksi dengan okesigen dengan bantuan enzim.   

2.    Dengan cahaya, kunang-kunang   menarik perhatian lawan jenisnya.Dengan cahaya,kunang-kunang memperingatkan binatang pemangsanya bahwa mereka bukannya makanan yang lezat.Sebab,luciferin itu rasanya pahit.Dengan cahaya pula,kunang-kunang jenis tertentu,memanggil kunang-kunang lainnya untuk dimangsa.

3.    Warna cahaya kunang-kunang bermacam-macam.Kekuatan kedipannya juga bermacam-macam.Dari jenis cahaya itu,kunang-kunang dapat membedakan jenisnya,juga jenis kelaminnya.

4.    Ada lebih dari 2.000 jenis kunang-kunang.Kebanyakan di temukan di sekitar rawa,hutan,tepi sungai,atau kebun.

5.    Jika kalian melihat kunang-kunang sedang terbang.Kemungkinan besar itu jantan.Sebab yang betina lebih suka hinggap di pohon,tanah,atau rerumputan.
